Beer Trip: Zion Brewery in Springdale, Utah
Sitting right outside of the main entrance to Zion National Park, Zion Brewery is the perfect place to relax after a good day of hiking.
The Brewery
As far as locations go, it would be tough to find a brewery with better scenery than Zion Brewery. The national park is literally right across the Virgin River directly behind the pub! The patio is definitely the place to be when visiting, as every seat overlooks the mountains. The majority of the seating here is outdoors, where they utilize a combination of large trees and sunshades to keep most of the tables covered. When the temperature picks up, they even have large misting machines to help keep you cool.
The indoor space consists of a 6-8 person bar, along with a decent amount of smaller tables spaced throughout. It was kind of giving us a 1990’s Pizza Hut feel inside, which took us back!
The Beer
Zion Brewery offers a dozen beers on tap and does a fantastic job of varying those styles - nearly every beer is different! IPAs, a pilsner, sour, amber, and stout are just a few of their many varieties. With all of the unique alcohol laws in the state of Utah, it’s impressive that they were able to keep all of these different types of beers under the 5% ABV rule.
Being the only brewery within a 30-minute drive, we were able to sample several of their brews - not just at Zion Brewery, but at other restaurants around town. From our experience, all of their beer was solid taste-wise! The Juicy IPA was a crushable drink with low bitterness and a slight tropical flavor, which hit the spot just right after a day in the park. Being a sucker for fruit beers, we of course had to try the Foray Pomegranate Sour. This one was subtly tart and packed a great pomegranate flavor which we don’t typically see for beers in our area.
Food, Merch, & More
Zion Brewery is just as much of a restaurant as it is a brewery and they offer a vast food menu. We enjoyed a late lunch consisting of burgers, but they also had salads, tacos, fish ‘n chips, and more. Before you dive into your meal, be sure to try their delicious pub fries!
For the non-beer drinkers, Zion offered wine and house-made lemonades.
The merchandise section was in a separate room next to the entrance and offered t-shirts, hats, koozies, books, and even baby onesies.
