Beer Trip: Unsung Brewing Company in Anaheim, California

Located within a short drive of Disneyland, Unsung Brewing Co. was a refreshing stop after a long day.

The Brewery

To get to Unsung you walk through a nice, outdoor space that’s shared with both a distillery and winery. This trifecta makes Unsung the perfect stop if you’re visiting with someone who isn’t necessarily a beer fan. Once inside you immediately understand where Unsung gets its namesake, as the interior is packed with superhero memorabilia and artwork - this place makes you feel like you’re in a comic book! With a large bar, indoor seating, and an outdoor space, there were plenty of places to sit.

The Beer

If trying different styles is your thing, then Unsung is the place for you. Offering roughly 20 beers on draft, they had multiple IPAs, sours, and lagers, as well as a wheat, stout, and a very unique amber. Known as the Propeller Head, this amber had a heavy coffee flavor that we hadn’t experienced before with this style. Our attentive and kind beertender, Evie, informed us that Unsung constantly rotates taps and you might only find 3-4 of the same beer selections consistently available. As you could imagine with a name like Unsung, their beers all had names fit for a superhero and artwork to match - it all really added to the theme.

With so many different styles and options, we were excited to discover that the taste was just as noteworthy. Everything we tried was solid for its category. The sours were all packed with different fruits, including the Psionic Watermelon Guava - one of the best sours we’d ever had (but when we say sour, we mean it - Evie compared this to a warhead)! It perfectly combined an initial tartness with a crisp, sweet, watermelon finish. Unsung does a fantastic job combining multiple flavors into a beer while still making sure each one stands out.

Food & Merch

Unsung itself doesn’t offer food, but the joint space hosted by Make features a restaurant in addition to the distillery and winery. This one-stop-shop makes coming here a convenience to all.

Unsung didn’t have as much merchandise as a lot of places do, but still had shirts and glassware available. One of our favorite offerings they did have was a large to-go section, which we made sure to explore for taking back to Kansas City.

Unsung is definitely worth the stop whether you’re local or in town for Disney travels!
