Beer Trip: Park City Brewing in Park City, Utah
A wedding brought us to Park City, so of course we had to explore the surroundings that the town had to offer. Being the beer people we are, we mapped out Park City Brewery and made this our top destination during our limited visit.
The Brewery
Park City Brewing is located within a strip mall shopping district, but still has a nice outdoor patio area. The indoor space consists of multiple small tables, two large picnic tables, and bar seating for 8 complete with cool, leather barstools. The brewery is actually intertwined with the seating area - you can actually walk through the processing area on your way to the restroom. Whether you sit outside or inside near the windows, you are offered a fantastic mountain view that would be tough to beat.
The Beer
Park City is a very new brewery, having only opened in February 2022*, so they’re just starting to figure out some of their beer offerings. When we visited they had 6 different brews to choose from. Our brewtender told us that 5 of the selections are regular flagships and that they rotate the last choice. With only 6 options, they do a good job of not brewing multiples of the same style - an American lager, pilsner, pale ale, amber, porter, and IPA were all on tap. The place was definitely set up where they could add several more brews pretty easily once they get their feet beneath them.
While they didn’t have an abundance of options, the beer they offered was all solid. An amber is one of our favorite styles, and theirs just so happened to be an amber lager (as opposed to an ale, which made it exciting to try). Silver Creekwater was the name, and it was a lot hoppier than anticipated - but still had a faint maltiness which made it rather enjoyable. We didn’t have the time to try all of their beers, but our favorite brew of the day was the Local’s Secret Coldbrew Porter. This was their rotating option and provided a good roasty taste, but was a lighter drinking beer overall - different than most porters. Perhaps the neatest thing Park City offers is that all of their drafts are served in a frosted mug, which was a first for us at a brewery!
*Upon doing further research, it looks like Park City Brewing originated in 2015; however, was revived by new ownership in 2022.
Food, Merch, & More
Per Utah law, this brewery is actually categorized as a restaurant - which means that you must order food in order to keep drinking. While we viewed that as somewhat of a downside of Park City, the upside was that their food was quite appetizing. We had delicious garlic parmesan french fries, but they also offered salads, burgers, chicken wings, brats, and more.
In addition to serving their own beer, they also served wine, soda, and several options of non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing.
Their merchandise selection was pretty limited, but not unexpected for a smaller brewery - they offered hats, snow hats, and multiple t-shirts. Like most places on our Utah trip, they were out of stickers - but they did make up for it with offerings of all their flagship beer in to-go cans.
One last thing to keep in mind when you visit is that they do not accept cash. Although we were able to accommodate, it was unexpected and somewhat inconvenient.
Park City, Utah offers an abundance of shopping and outdoor activities, but Park City Brewing is the place to be after a day of exploring the town or the slopes.
Cheers!
