Beer Trip: Idaho Brewing Company in Idaho Falls, Idaho
Sitting just a few blocks from downtown Idaho Falls sits Idaho Brewing Company. With a nice selection of beer and a truly homey feeling, it brought with it a very unique drinking experience.
The Brewery
Make sure you utilize Google Maps to locate this brewery, as it can be tough to locate on your own; however, once you find it, you definitely can’t miss their huge outdoor patio! With probably 20 tables, there are plenty of places to sit. Because some are covered, you can enjoy Idaho Brewing Company, rain or shine.
The indoor area has a very residential feeling - almost like stepping into your grandma’s house. With carpeted floors, diner-style tables and chairs, and live plants everywhere, it really feels like home. The bar sits right inside the door and has a convenient window from the patio that people can order from.
One thing that we’ve never encountered before is a ‘Pour It Forward’ board! People can buy a drink for either a friend to claim at a later time, or even pick out some random criteria such as a “pint for anyone named Marie.” Very fun concept!
The Beer
Idaho Brewing Company has an above-average number of options, with a full menu consisting of 12 beers. Eight of their choices are year-round offerings, with the other 4 being seasonal rotators. The brewing style here is different than most breweries, with some of their most popular brews being an oatmeal stout, Scottish ale, brown, and pale ale.
Having visited a few times, their beer certainly doesn’t lack in quality. Watching person after person order the Idaho Pale Ale, we took that as a sign to jump in and do the exact same thing. Expecting a standard pale ale, we were pleasantly surprised to find more than just hops in a glass. While it did have a hoppiness to it, it also had a smoky flavor that seemed to be the primary taste. In our opinion, the top beer Idaho Brewing Company has to offer is the What a Pear. Just like it’s name, this one is a pear lager and probably the top pear flavored beers we’ve ever tried. It is very easy to drink and provides a great, sweet kick.
Food, Merch, & More
Idaho Brewing Company doesn’t serve food themselves, but will typically partner with food trucks to provide rotating options. Having visited near the end of a work day, they had some killer happy hour specials and the locals were certainly aware of it by the crowds that were present! The had $2 pints during this visit.
In addition to beer, they also have a few different wine selections and some non-alcoholic canned beers for those who don’t drink. While their beer selection is robust, they do not have much for merchandise with only a few hats and one t-shirt option.
Idaho Brewing Company definitely has a lot to offer. With the nice outdoor patio, solid beer, and potential for good happy hour deals, make sure to check it out!
Cheers!
