Beer Trip: Eureka Springs Brewery in Eureka Springs, Arkansas
For a town of just over 2,000 people, Eureka Springs offers tons of restaurants and shops along with two breweries - one of which carries the town’s namesake - Eureka Springs Brewery! Situated just a short drive from downtown, it was the perfect place to spend a few hours.
The Brewery
Eureka Springs Brewery is housed inside of a metal building on a 5-acre piece of ground. The inside space is fairly small with just a bar, brewing equipment, and a few seats - but it has two overhead doors that open up to the real gem of the place… the outdoors! There is an entire lineup of camping style picnic tables, all surrounded by a literal forest.
By far the most unique thing about the place is that they have an entire disc golf course on site - we had never seen anything like it! This space is a true oasis. With all of the land they of course allow dogs, so we brought Barley along with us - one of the owners even spoiled her with a treat.
The Beer
Eureka Springs Brewery (ESB for short) has a nice selection of beer choices, with 9 different ones to select from. They typically keep the same 5 or 6 flagships and then rotate out the others. Their signature brews include a wheat, pale ale, blonde, IPA, and an Irish stout. Each tap handle for the flagships are complete with awesome artwork themed after fictional (or so they say…) characters, including the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot (though Bigfoot is featured in their primary logo, too). If they grow as a brewery and ever decide to distribute, these unique graphics would translate very well to a can.
With a good beer selection, a flight was an easy choice for the afternoon. Featuring 4 choices per flight, we went with the Blonde Ale, Cream Ale, Wild Wheat, and the Headless Horseman Pumpkin Ale. None of these selections wowed us, but at the same time were all drinkable and solid beers. Perhaps the best one we sampled that day was the Cyclops, which is their American IPA. This one is made with Centennial hops and offered a very piney taste.
Food, Merch, & More
Sharing the outdoor space of the brewery is a separate shed called Wingman that features a full menu - picture a food truck, but inside a backyard storage building instead. It might not seem ideal, but actually gave the area a charming feel.
As far as merchandise goes their selection was fairly small, but it did feature shirts, hats, and stickers. You could also purchase discs for the disc golf course, complete with their Bigfoot logo (which is really neat)!
Eureka Springs Brewery provided us a nice afternoon with a good selection of beer and an awesome atmosphere. Whether you’re in town for a wedding or just a nice weekend getaway, make sure you stop in and check the place out for yourself.
Cheers!
